We provide advice to owners and occupiers of business premises with a view to minimising their rates liability.

Every five years all Rateable Values (in England and Wales) are reassessed by the Valuation Office Agency. The Rateable Values represent the notional rental value and some will be set too high resulting in an over-payment in rates.

We are able to advise, and if appropriate, submit an appeal against the Rateable Value, negotiate and agree reductions with the Valuation Office Agency.

Our team can represent you at the Valuation Tribunal, advise on transitional relief, maximise the benefit of empty property relief, the removal of the premises from the Rating List in the event of redevelopment or refurbishment.

Alterations to a property or changes to its location may give rise to a reassessment or appeal.

We have a record of successfully concluding appeals and when an appeal is considered worthwhile we will normally work on a "no reduction, no fee" basis.
