The RICS HomeBuyer Report is widely used within the industry by purchasers and lenders. It is an intermediate
survey (between a mortgage valuation and Building Survey) in a standard format designed specifically as a
cost-effective service. It is intended only for houses, flats and bungalows which are conventional in type and
construction. It focuses on the essentials identifying defects and problems which are urgent or significant and
thus have an effect on the value. Generally it is not suitable for property built before 1920. Unlike a Building
Survey the HomeBuyer Report provides not only a survey, but also a valuation as an integral part.
